Fully charged, the New Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid’s can take you more than 56 kilometres using the electric motor alone.
Ideal on those short trips in the city that usually result in low efficiency and more money spent on fuel.
On longer journeys, the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine helps to extend the van’s range – working with
regenerative braking to recharge the battery.
And once sufficiently charged, you can switch back to electric only, helping you save money and reduce pollution.

The PHEV van can detect when it enters a congestion zone or low-emission zone, and then automatically switch to electric only drive mode. Users can also create custom “green zones” to reduce emissions near schools, in urban areas and warehouses.

Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV) have all the functionality of full Hybrid technology, with the added advantage that they can be charged from an external electricity supply. The larger capacity of the battery makes them capable of zero-emissions while driving for ranges of up to 56 kilometres, with the ability to switch to Hybrid mode to conserve battery life and to petrol or diesel-only for longer journeys.

Geofencing Technology
Available in the Transit Custom plug-in hybrid, geofencing technology is designed to help improve local air quality. The PHEV van can detect when it enters a congestion zone or low-emission zone, and then automatically switch to electric only drive mode. Users can also create custom “green zones” to reduce emissions near schools, in urban areas and warehouses. The geofence module also records information about electric-only operation within low-emission areas. This data can be shared with authorities to confirm compliance within low-emission zones, avoiding the risk of wrongful fines and penalties. When the Transit Custom PHEV leaves a controlled zone, it automatically switches to the most appropriate drive mode for the next leg of the journey
